Our 1% Make A Difference Commitment
Every year, as part of our 1% Make A Difference Commitment, 1% of our total sales is used to support charities and our community. This year we are supporting Forever Stars an East Midlands charity dedicated to supporting families who've suffered a stillbirth or infant loss.
Forever Stars
In 2013, Richard and Michelle were dealt one of life’s hardest blows when their beautiful daughter Emily was stillborn. They went on to found Forever Stars in Emily's memory. Together they now work tirelessly to raise the necessary funds to build facilities and to improve care for parents who also find their precious child has gone too soon.
They support parents, siblings, family and friends who have been affected by the death of a baby and fundraise and campaign to improve the bereavement care for parents and families - as well as promoting medical research to reduce the number of stillborns across the country.
Their outstanding achievements include funding two bereavement suites for baby loss families: one in each of Nottingham's main hospitals, and funding and managing a remembrance garden at Highfields Park in the University of Nottingham grounds - the Serenity Garden. Over 600 families have used and contributed to the garden either through dedicated benches, petals on the sculpture or planting dedicated trees. Future plans include creating a picnic area and, in time, a water-feature.
Forever Stars have also set up a new Serenity Centre providing valuable mindfulness and well-being activities including yoga, floristry, chocolate making, befriending services, clay therapy, and art workshops. They are also working towards the Serenity Centre becoming a referral centre from the NHS to support all families that suffer baby loss, from the moment they leave hospital.
Forever Stars really are making a difference to people’s lives, and we’re delighted to be working with them.
